Jim Watson open to possible rail link to Ottawa Airport

OTTAWA – In an open letter to city council, Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson has announced the city is open to studying the possibility of a rail link to the Ottawa Airport.

The study would be funded by the City of Ottawa and only begin once the Transportation Master Plan is approved by council. In the meantime, Watson said he will be meeting airport President and CEO Mark Laroche in the coming weeks to keep a dialogue going.

This all comes as the city’s Transit Commission meets to debate the TMP Monday. The commission will also provide an update on the transit-related components of the plan, including pedestrian and cycling plans.
