Great local school - Katimavik Elementary School

Routinely rated as one of the top schools in Ottawa, Katimavik has achieved an average rating, over the past five years of 8.7 out of 10.  This is extremely high and makes it the 57th ranked school in the province of Ontario.  Katimavik is particularily strong in the Junior grades of 4, 5 and 6, as their students achievement increases by approximately 10% from their grade 3 testing to the grade 6 testing.

The EQAO assigns a level of achievement to each completed test. Achievement at Levels 1 and 2 suggest that the student has not yet met the provincial standard. Level 3 is considered the provincial standard and Level 4 represents achievement well above the expected level. Thus, achievement at Level 3 or 4 suggests that students are well prepared for work at the next grade.

Average grade three scores are in the 3 range at Katimavik and the average grade six scores are in the 3.3 range (well above the expected province wide target of 3).

Kanata is one of the largest suburbs of OttawaOntarioCanada. Located about 22 km (14 mi) west-southwest of the city's Downtown, Kanata has a population of 80,781 (population centre: 101,760)[2] as of 2011 and is growing rapidly. Before it was amalgamated into Ottawa in 2001, it was one of the fastest growing cities in Canada and the fastest growing community in Eastern Ontario. Located just to the west of the National Capital Commission Greenbelt, it is one of the largest of several communities that surround central Ottawa. It is a planned community and an important hi-tech centre.

Kanata was the first of the major subdivision in Ottawa to grow.  It houses the CTC (Canadian Tire Center), home of the Ottawa Senators.  This is the high tech hub of Ottawa.  There is a very cool Centrum Plaza for shopping -  Kanata also houses the new Ottawa outlet mall.

Kanata houses feature many small and large town homes, as well as small and large single family homes.  Some of the best schools in Ottawa are in Kanata.
